Our first rehearsal will be on next Tuesday 21st September, then every Tuesday at 7.30pm until early December (end-date and concert date to be advised later), except for Tuesday 25th October when the school will be closed for half-term.
We’ll be singing Vivaldi’s “Gloria”, which is not too difficult, sounds wonderful, and will be familiar to many of you. (It doesn’t seem the year for challenging material.) We provide hired scores, but if you’d prefer to get your own it’s the “Ricordi” edition, widely available. We’ll also learn some Christmas songs.
Here’s how we plan to make our first evening straightforward and safe. Expect to get some further information on safety in the rehearsal hall either during the next week or at the rehearsal.
Please come at or shortly after 7pm so we can get you signed in. All rehearsals will be at William Ellis School, London NW5 1RN. The school hall is, unexpectedly, on the first floor.
Covid safety: please read and follow our covid precautions. Most of you will be fully vaccinated, and some of you will have recovered after a positive test. But if neither is the case please get in touch and let us know now; we may need to plan extra distancing measures.
I’m afraid we will not be able to provide mid-rehearsal refreshments on Tuesday, and perhaps not at any rehearsal this term. Please bring something to drink.
For a safe, swift, registration please:
- Space out any queue for registration.
- Wear a face mask on the school premises until the choir director asks you to remove it to sing.
- If you’re new to the choir or any contact details have changed, please provide them in advance (a simple form.)
- Bring your fee of £50 (£10 for full-time students or those on working-age benefits) in cash or cheque. We are unable to take cards this term. Please have the right money or a pre-written cheque (made out to “North Camden Chorus”).
If you are a new singer and you want to try out for one rehearsal let us know; we’ll give you a photocopy of the music for this evening only and you can decide before the second rehearsal.
We’ll be delighted to see new members (preferably on the 21st and 28th September). All are welcome, without audition. Students and those dependent on working-age benefits pay a lower fee (currently £10).
Oh, and new singers… If you haven’t done so already, please fill in our simple contact information form. We need those details to track down the scores we lend out.
If you sung with us before
If you’re returning to the choir and not able to make the first rehearsal on the 21st, please drop us a line and tell us the first rehearsal you expect to attend.
North Camden Chorus needs new singers. Every term some singers change jobs, move house or find something else intrudes on their Tuesday evenings. We all have to work to replace them. If you know anyone who might like to sing, see whether they’ll come along with you. Send them this link: http://ncchorus.org.uk/join-a-choir.
