When will we sing again?

We hope you are well and coping after this most difficult year. Our choir has been closed since March: when will we sing again? Well, we’re planning for a normal Autumn 2021 term.

In the meantime…

Carol singing

Our usual carol singing couldn’t happen, of course. We usually collect for the Royal Free Hospital children’s ward party. If you’d
like to make a donation, you can do so on our Justgiving fundraising page.

Here’s a snippet of last year’s carol singing in Hampstead:

Spring 2021

We don’t think we can rehearse or perform anything this Spring. None of us has the heart for online rehearsals, and there are too many of us to have a safely distanced rehearsal.

To help us all stay in touch with each other, we’re looking at doing some sort of all-choir Zoom event in the early spring – watch this space.

Summer 2021 – hoping to sing again!

We’ll plan (somewhat tentatively) for a post-Easter term of multiple short pieces, ending with an informal party. That seems
like a good warm-up before attempting a larger-scale work in September when we can sing again. We might seek to rehearse in the church (St Mary Brookfield), either if the school is not open to us, or because it is a much bigger more airy space. Maybe the party could be outdoors…

Have you still got your music scores?

If you didn’t hand in your Spring 2020 scores (the term broke up at short notice) it would be great if you could email our librarian and say what you’ve got.

All our best to all our loyal singers as we wait this thing out. As the song says:

“But at least we all will be together.
If the fates allow.
From now on, we’ll have to muddle through somehow.

So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.”

Want to join us?

Although we’re not very active at the moment because of the pandemic, you can get in touch to join our mailing list and join us when we’re back up and running. We’ve all really missed the joy of singing together, and we’re always open to new choir members. Find out more about us.
